Another stop on my 2018 New England road trip was Salem, Massachusetts. I have a separate post about visiting Salem on Halloween that you can read about here, but I couldn't very well lump Hocus Pocus into that blog, it definitely needed it's own! When I visited Salem it was the 25th anniversary of Hocus Pocus which was completely intentional by the way. Although there hadn't been any confirmed Hocus Pocus related celebrations I decided to go anyways just in case something was announced last minute. Turns out, nothing happened. But it was still cool to walk around Salem and see places where the movie was filmed.
The first stop was Max and Dani's house which is located at 4 Ocean Ave. This is a private home so please don't trespass and ruin it for the owners and for all the fans that haven't yet visited. It's located about 1.3 miles away from all of the other filming locations I mention here.

The next stop was Max and Allison's high school which is located at 65 S Washington Square. In real life it was the Phillips Elementary School and although it's no longer a school the building isn't open to the public. While you're checking out the high school, er, elementary school you should also check out Salem Common. I stood in the common to take the picture of the school, it's that close. The common is also where some of the outdoor scenes were filmed, like when Allison gave Max what he thought was her phone number.
On to Allison's house, located at 318 Essex St which is actually the Ropes Mansion and is open to the public for tours. It's also located next to The Witch House which is my #1 place I recommend checking out when visiting in Salem.

I also stopped by the Old Town Hall which was where all of the parents went to the Halloween party and the Sanderson Sisters sang "I Put a Spell on You." It's located at 32 Derby Square and it is open to the public. This is also located in one of the best areas for costume watching during Halloween.

The one place I didn't get to go to was the Pioneer Village which was the setting for the opening scenes of the movie where Thackery and Emily Binx live. It's a living museum and is only open from July - September with a couple October dates as weather permits. Unfortunately it was closed for the season by the time I got there, but it's definitely on my list to go back and check out. The address is 310 West Ave.
Salem isn't that big so if you're out exploring the town you'll pass nearly of these location along the way and could easily see everything in half of a day. And just for the hell of it here's some Hocus Pocus themed pumpkins that were on display at the Salem Witch Museum.
